One of the relaxing ways I used to de-stress is retail therapy. I find it quite satisfying to treat myself after all the stress from work, home and pollution outside. Nowadays, I`m barely able to do this because of the pandemic. Hence, I had to divert my attention to a safer and more practical way to release the negative tension in my body and mind.
I had been getting peace from making sure that my small home is well kept. I have gotten a lot of really helpful tips from different communities about organizing refrigerator, pantry and food storage. Here`s what I came up so far when it comes to organizing my small refrigerator:
Freezer

I found that keeping frozen meats in containers make it easier for me to defroze them unlike keeping them in their original plastic bags and just stuffing them in the freezer. Back then, whenever I had to defroze meat, I had to take out the other meat in a plastic bag that got attached through ice. Now that they`re in containers, I simply have to choose which one to defroze and I don`t have to worry about the difficulty of removing the plastic bag and stuck meat.
2. Cooking Ingredients and Snacks

I like to keep the cooking ingredients on the side shelves of the refrigerator. I usually use the 2nd and 3rd shelves for those. I don`t have a very specific arrangement for this. I just make sure that most ingredients are easily seen and that it`s somehow arranged based on what they are for.
Powdered Drinks/Juices

As for the juices, I keep them lined up so that I can easily take what`s in front since it`s the same as those in the back. I got this idea from how convenience and grocery stores display their juices on shelves.
As for the powdered drinks, I also line them and group them according to what they are and what they`re for.
Vegetables

I love doing the same thing with vegetables the way I do with meat. Keeping vegetables in containers keep them from getting wet specially since the top of the area that you see on the photo is glass and can be removed. Sometimes when moved, liquid passes through and gets into the vegetables. Because of this, there were many times I had to throw out spoiled vegetables.

Food Cabinets

As for other items that don`t need refrigerating, such as canned goods, snacks, pasta, noodles and others, I keep them organized in my cabinets close to the refrigerator.

When it comes to products with long expiration dates, I just make sure that almost all of them are visible so that I won`t forget about them.

As for grocery shopping, I like to have them boxed instead of using plastics specially when I wasn`t able to bring my eco shopping bags. This way, I have extra boxes I can use for trash instead of plastics.
All in all, I`m quite happy with how I organize my groceries for now but I know that there are better ways to organize them which I would love to further explore and do.
