Hello lovely ladies!
Being a minimalist doesn`t necessarily mean to be bland and lifeless.
Being minimalist may be different for every person. However,
minimalism is often associated with having less, enough or what`s only necessary to better enjoy and get the most out of the things we have around us.
Minimalism can be applied in almost every aspect of our lives.
We can apply it in our finances, material possessions, social lives, and even our home. Our home is
where we should feel the most comfortable and relaxed. Having the appropriate arrangement, organization and design in the house is significant, which is why
designing our home with only minimal accents and decorations can help minimize our stress and burdens in life. Here are 3 easy and simple ways you can add minimalist accents to any room in your house:
1.) Choose a Theme or Color Scheme
Choosing a color scheme will allow you to have your chosen color
be the accent of the entire room. Having complementary colors or different shades of one color can give any room
a cohesive look.
You can choose your theme based on your preferences. Your theme can also be based on your favorite color, scenery, item, and vibe.
For example, if you want a calming, warm, and light room, you can incorporate white, beige, and cream like the bedroom in the photo above. If you want a more colorful yet refreshing and light room, you can choose pastels.
An example of basing your theme or color scheme on your favorite color, activity, or place is the room in the photo above. If you`re into soft yet creative room, or if you love Paris, France, the Eiffel Tower, or travelling through ship, the design above might interest you. You can base your over-all theme and color scheme on your likes and favorites.
You can also base your design by the kind of vibe you want to bring into the room through furniture, colors, and style. For the room in the photo above, it has a hint of both consistent
vintage and modern design which made it a beautiful room.
Being consistent with your color scheme and theme will be of great help in achieving a room with minimalist accents and designs.
2.) Include Subtle Designs
You can add subtle designs through small items. For example in the photo above, the artwork in the wall beside the toilet, and the different shades of pink or purple towels in the left, gave the room an over-all color scheme of white, pink, purple, and red.
Small items with different hues or shades of the same color can definitely give any room an accent and pop of color which can give a unified view.
You can also choose items that matches your over-all color scheme. The items doesn`t need to be overpowering in design. It can be as subtle as having sheer
Paris Curtains with colors from your whole theme.
You can also include simple designs through the wall. Just like the room in the photo above, there`s a simple black wall in the center with a darker shade of black to define the more intricate designs. The wall with the black decor blends well with the entire room and is not overpowering. It gave the whole room an accent and edge in design compared to having a simple black wall without intricate designs.
3.) Use Distinguishable Items
You can go for a black and white theme and some pop of color through the center furniture or lights just like the living room in the photo above. As you can see, the sofa or couch is ultraviolet with the pink, blue and purple combination of lights above boosting the effect of the pop of color of the sitting area. The placing of the violet items were vertical
to be subtle and balanced.
In the room in the photo above, it has a dark color scheme with mostly black and white items. Here, a sheer white and black
Paris curtains were hung to give the room an accent and more-than-basic look. The
Paris Curtains didn`t have much designs in the upper half while the lower half has the Eiffel Tower and some buildings. This is a great curtain to use for black and white themed rooms because the designs are at the bottom which makes the curtain
quite subtle in design and not overpowering.
The most distinguishable items in the bedroom in the photo above are the sleeping, and sitting areas. Also, the floors match the lower part of the sitting area and small table. The matching colors of the sitting and sleeping areas, and the colors of the floor, curtains, wall, and light, gave the entire room a more
cohesive look. The bed frame and sitting area gave the room some accent because of its matching color, the sitting area`s quite unique shape, and the bed frame`s yellow-colored lights.
Adding minimalist accents by choosing your theme and/or color scheme, including subtle designs and using distinguishable items and/or furniture, will help give any room in the house some design and edge
which will make the over-all look of the room more lively, engaging, personalized, and less dull.
